Dimension: 9.9cm Height, 12.7cm Width. A heavy potted yet delightful in its overall form, this celadon piece is covered with deep green glaze suffused with bubbles that can be felt like a'cold smooth jade' with dark brown large crackles that covered the entire piece except for the base of the three cabriole legs.

The unglazed base of the three splayed legs is covered with a brown ochre with kiln grit adhered to it, exposing a dark brown body beneath. The elegant form for this censer is derived from bronze metal works especially with the'ribs' that run vertically along the external cavetto of each leg. Punctured holes can be observed on the inner underside to allow air escape during firing to maintain the integrity of this piece. Chinese writing has described Guan ware such as in this example to be'iron foot and purple mouth'.
